About us

Poetic. Dynamic. Groundbreaking.

Duda Paiva Company creates poetic, dynamic, and groundbreaking theater at the intersection of dance and puppetry. Under the artistic direction of Duda Paiva, we develop associative and narrative performances that take the audience into a world full of imagination, humor, and emotion. Our urgent productions touch on themes such as sustainability and inclusivity, and appeal to people of all ages and backgrounds, in the Netherlands and far beyond.

From our home base in Amersfoort, we work with a team of passionate creators, performers, and technicians on new productions. In the Volkshotel in Amsterdam, our creative breeding ground, we develop projects and showcase the first sketches of new work. We work closely with cultural organizations and creators in Amersfoort to make the city buzz with encounter and experimentation.

Our signature is Duda Paiva’s Object Score method: a unique way of working in which dancers and sculptures engage in a physical and emotional dialogue together. This creates a theatrical language that breaks the boundaries between disciplines; playful and moving at the same time.

Our performances travel through the Netherlands and Europe, where we perform, share, and collaborate with local partners. We strive for sustainable exchange; more than just a performance. Through encounters, workshops, and knowledge sharing, we increase the impact of our work on audiences, creators, and the world around us.
