The Sound of Silence: a parade with a message
During the last week of June, Amersfoort’s city center transforms into a lively street theater. “The Sound of Silence” is a 90-minute parade filled with dance, puppetry, and percussion. The orangutan takes center stage in a procession of extinct, endangered, and living animal species. In this way, we showcase how beautiful and fragile nature can be, and we reflect on the role of humanity.
Led by choreographer Duda Paiva, more than 50 performers create a lively parade filled with music, dance, and foam figures. Along the way, you’ll experience the energetic drums of the GDFL Brass Band, the salsa dancers from ML Dance Center, the moves of an urban dance group, the animal puppets from the Duda Paiva Company, and a performance by the Red Rebels. Together, they create an unforgettable experience that both captivates and inspires movement.
“The Sound of Silence” is a colorful spectacle that gets you moving, makes you laugh, and gives you food for thought.
